BIOMASS
Biomass (second generation) is polymeric material from plants that cannot be used as food. It is composed of interlinked carbon, hydrogen and oxygen, and is available from forest residues, farming (e.g., paddy stalk), food processing (e.g., rice husk), and from sewage. Nature has amazingly designed macroscale biomass by intertwining nanoscale units.
The plant biomass is composed of cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin forming its basic structural units.
